Dear Fellow Galwegians,
Galway’s famous fourteen tribes have been joined by six new postal zones – NW1, NE2, SW3, SW4, EC5 and SE6.
Galwaypostcode.com has developed a new simple post code for Galway city. Basically, it’s a system with letters and number (alphanumeric) that are six or seven digits long – depending on geographical location. All residential addresses run alphabetically and are numbered sequentially. All thirty-one of the city’s suburbs, fall into six zones, i,e. NW1, NE2, SW3, SW4, EC5 and SE6 ( SEE MAP ).
This new system, I believe, will expedite the transit of goods and services in a more efficient manner. Anyone can incorporate this new system into their databases, mailing lists and other computer software.
The system is designed to be future proof and can change in tandem with Galway’s future growth. It can be weaved in seamlessly with any new or proposed all Ireland postal coding system. Local government, postal distribution agencies and developers of navigation systems will find galwaypostcode.com an invaluable future resource.
Regards,
Matthias Cowley ( Project Coordinator)
